2005 Pooley Family Reserve Cabernet Merlot

Like the Family Reserve Pinot, this wine is in limited supply with only one barrique being made. The blend of Cabernet to Merlot varies from year to year due to the inconsistent yielding habits of the Merlot, but there is no doubt that the greater the Merlot component the more complete the wine tends to be. This particular vintage is composed of nearly 52% Cabernet and 48% Merlot.
“Good structure, in the elegant, leaner, Medoc Bordeaux blend or Claret style, rather than the plush Pomerol Merlot mouthfeel.
An excellent first up effort.”Phil Laing,
